I hope this is the right place to ask this,

I've been trying to design a couple themes and I looked at the themes tutorial and it looks like the theme used as a source was designed as all one template instead of a combination of header, blocks, story_home and a footer made individually and saved as slices! It's a bit confusing for a layman what the best way to design a theme really is, And to add insult to injury whatever way I go about it photoshop cs2 only allows one variable per layer from what I can see and I can't have things like the date and the time and the user variables in the header or the title and content in the blocks so needless to say all I come up with is graphics because my themes have no content! Can someone give me a little assistance and point me in the right direction please I'm tired of deleting and starting over to no avail!

Thanks

hi, the best way is to use the html templates such as header.html, footer.html, blocks.html.....
For blocks you would add $title to output the name of each blocks and $content to output the contents of each blocks.
Similar for stories.
Your best bet is to use an already created theme to see how it's structured.

My suggestion is to modifie theme DeepBlue ( its more easyier) and slowly but steady you will gain some experience to proceed in other themes.
