This will be good for businesses and webmasters as I am sure they would consider something similiar to adsense. For this to work they will need to compete with google for the payout, anything less will mean failure for microsoft which has been for the last few years trailing google in the quest for search supremecy. More information on this coming soon. Posted: Wed Mar 16, 2005 7:57 am

Google Adwords was confusing and their support staff routinely contradicted each other when they answered questions regarding my campaign. I switched to Overture and have been quite satisfied with the amount of traffic it has generated. I also like Overtures account management interfacing. If Microsoft can improve support, when compared to Google, and provide a service similar to Google Adwords and Overture, then I might be interested. Posted: Wed Mar 16, 2005 5:23 pm

It gives them the false sense that alot of people are visiting their sites when it could just be people clicking the links to make money. Like anything else the more money you put into the adwords the better it is for your business, but that means small businesses who need the traffic really bad will get left out. Advertising is a very tricky thing and the best way to get traffic is word of mouth. I get most of my traffic not because my site is number one on google (which it's not) but from people talking about my site and adding links on forums and other websites. I'm happy to exchange links and allow folks to submit links but I just can't talk myself into allowing my site to become a billboard. Frankly I thought the appeal of an ad free safe harbor would be to my advantage but as of yet it hasn't been. Posted: Wed Mar 16, 2005 5:55 pm

So far i have had only compliments on the implemetation of the ads. The image ads are no good, those you can do without but text ads are more acceptable by most users. Get rid of the borders and make the background match your website and users will be ok with it. Posted: Wed Mar 16, 2005 6:00 pm
