This has been front page story for every news station. Why does this matter to us, space exploration so far has been useless. We are not advanced enough to explore space. People are dying all over the world from hunger, war ect. all the news are showing is someone in space removing a stupid foam. Are you kidding me? I'll tell you the truth why it's on the news. They are all hoping something bad happens. They are covering the space shuttle return hoping it explodes so they have something to talk about and say they have it live. News are about sensationalism, and if you think otherwise you are just fooling yourself. Start covering news that are important and stop covering things that are of little importance to our lives!!

Wow. How much alcohol did it take for you to come to that conclusion?
The need to reduce weight on rockets led to miniaturisation, and so to the micro-chip and the modern computer.
The Global Positioning System.
Research into climate change, for example, would be almost impossible without the data provided by satellites.
The effects of zero-gravity on astronauts has substantially added to our knowledge of the workings of the human body, and the ageing process.
Apollo missions led to the development of practical fuel-cells, which are now being explored as a possible future power-source for cleaner cars.
Numerous medical discoveries would not have been if it were not for the experiments done on board the zero gravity enviroments of Skylab, Mir, the Shuttles and the current International Space Station.

Actually, most if not all of those could be done without space exploration. Satellites are the only beneficial thing about space. Everthing in what you just wrote proves my point.

Correct me if I am wrong but weren't these all created on earth? Wink .Sure, they may have been fast tracked by the space program but think about this. That money could have been spent into programs for the research and development of new technology which in time would have still produced those technology and better. What have we learned about aging? That we all grow old and die? Nothing important came out of those research that we don't already know. We can't stop the age process neither canwe slow it down. Just so you know, we haven't even begun exploring space which is why it's "useless" right now. Land a human on a planet in another universe then ask me this question again. Show me live videos of outer space instead of still pictures. Now ask yourself, is what we done and are doing in space now worth at least 30% of the money that could end world hunger?
