The fsocket used in version 3.0 and older will be replaced with cURL when posting back to paypal. Most webhosts now use cURL which is safer than the outdated fsocket. This should not cause any disruption with your current module but contact your host first to see if they have cURL installed.
I may still provide fsocket as an option.
